- How many of X card type should I have in Commander (creatures, lands . . .
I've written some articles on this; How to Build a Deck for Magic: The Gathering Building A Proper Mana Base Essentially, it breaks down like this; 100 cards 1 Commander 5 creatures that cost 1 8 creatures that cost 2 14 creatures that cost 3 8 creatures that cost 4 5 creatures that cost 5+ 2 non-creatures that cost 1 5 non-creatures that cost 2 8 non-creatures that cost 3 4 non-creatures that
- Question: Its still a land-what exactly does this mean?
Basically count as both creature and land, therefore can be targeted by spells or abilities that would target either of those card types The land can still tap for mana and still count as whatever they were before, eg mountain for Koth or forest for awakener druid
- Target creature becomes | BoardGameGeek
Card: Suit Up U2 Instant Until end of turn target creature of vehicle becomes an artifact creature with base power and toughness 4 5 Draw a card Question: does this also overwrite any creature abilities in the text box For instance if I cast it on Futurist Operative (turns into
- nonbasic lands are mountains: does the card keep its abilities?
Changing a land’s subtype doesn’t add or remove any card types (such as creature) or supertypes (such as basic, legendary, and snow) the land may have If a land gains one or more land types in addition to its own, it keeps its land types and rules text, and it gains the new land types and mana abilities
- Rule of thumb for constructed mana curve? | BoardGameGeek
I found the suggested mana curve insert included in the Dominaria Pre-release set hugely helpful in building a winning deck last weekend I've been poking around for a similar guide for 60-card constructed to no avail Can anyone point me in the right direction?

- Landwalking and Special Lands | BoardGameGeek

- Is using a creature in combat a spell? | BoardGameGeek
The rulebook states, "All types of cards except lands are spells while you're playing them For example, Prodigal Pyromancer is a creature card While you're playing it, it's a creature spell When it resolves, it becomes a creature " Granted, I had my first game of MtG only
- Mixing cards from different sets | BoardGameGeek
The only problem you might have mixing cards from different sets is that some cards won't be very good For example, in a set all about different creature types (elves, goblins, etc), then there will be cards that need lots of elves to work well There were a lot of elves in that particular set for the card to work with, but maybe your mixed set of cards doesn't include many elves In that
- When cards are exiled, do counters and enchantments fall off?
Broadly speaking, whenever a card changes zones it loses all memory of anything that happened to it and is treated by the game as a new object Counters go away, enchantments and equipment fall off, damage is cleared, all effects that had applied to the original card are gone, effects on the stack that were targeting it lose track of it, it's no longer in combat, and summoning sickness applies
