Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for your reply As suggested, I ran chkdsk with parameter r, tried system restore back to before the problem, and also deleted Normal dot None of the above worked I don't think repairing MS Word from Add Remove Programs will work because as I mentioned, the problem is also with all word processing applications, like wordpad and notepad, as well as macromedia projector

My Windows Firewall was not on I tried to start it, and as not able to Nor could I start MS Security Center I tried booting into safe mode but holding down F8 would not do it I also looked into a System Restore and not only were there none, that would not start either
