As you've noted, without access to your original mobile device and not being able to log into myGov you can't unlink the old mobile device to use the myGov app either You can use the myGovID app to access your myGov account

If you've set up a myGovID you will need to login using the digital identity login options for myGov, not using your email password To try I would recommend using the my gov au website when logging in scroll down the page to find the digital identity login option and follow the prompts via that option All replies

I have the myGovID app on my phone and my usual workflow for logging in to myGov is to open myGov on my computer, select "sign in with digital ID" on the login page, unlock the myGovID app using my fingerprint on my phone, and then accept the code that comes up, after which I'm automatically logged in on my computer

Thanks for the reply I ended up called MyGov and found out that it was because recently I changed my mobile number on MyGov and I have been told that now I need to set up a whole new account :( Obviously you need to keep the same mobile number for your entire life
